The Front A/C Unit in this car was pirated from a 96 Diahatsu Charade, including the vents. I chopped the hell out of it and made some major alterations internally so that I can now have hot air on my feet and demister, and have cold air on my face at the same time.

To get it all to work with fresh air from the original cowl vent, I made a stainless plenum under the vent and a water trap (note pipe), then the air goes up over a ledge and through a charcoal filter that slides into that slot before it enters the A/C fan.

You can see this in the photo below, note the rod and lever top right that connects to a Toyota Celica headlight motor to open the cowl-vent.

If you are wondering why the hmmer is hanging in mid-air its because this photo is upside-down. I cut out the cowl and built the lot on the bench rather than do it all laying on my back.

Upside-down is easy !!

The Diahatsu vents fit the flow of the dash. Originally there was a crank to wind out the windscreen at this spot
